the television is on 24 hours a day. it keeps me company as i'm usually alone except for Shadow, and he never says a word. we pay a small fortune per month for cable TV and in return I have access to a shitload of channels I have no interest in, outright hate or am disturbed by their content.
i find myself hard pressed to find programs i can tolerate listening to while i'm on the internet. it's rare for me me to ever actually watch the television. few shows demand watching. FARGO is so damn good i have to watch. The Americans lapses into the Russian dialect and i have to watch to read the subtitles.
because of my age and sex people usually laugh or think i'm kidding when i mention Dr. Phil. while his show is all too often drivel there is the rare episode when i learn something. so i hope for the best and sometimes i come up a winner.
i pity Dr. Phil ( pity the millionaire successful TV show host / author ) because at the end of the day he's Oprah's bitch boy, a more well rewarded but still castrated Phil Donahue. TV is big business = big money, they have a targeted demographic and they keep their collective tongue firmly lodged up the asses of middle class white 'murican soccer moms.
why i feel bad for the Doctor is in knowing he is a well educated, well read, well traveled life experienced man that has to cowtow to the demographic for his daily bread. I would so love to hear his true thoughts and feelings uncensored from the heart. we'll never know if in his heart of hearts if he is a racist, a bigot, if he thinks the pregnant unwed high school girls that appear on the show are sluts from shit families that should have learned how to swallow or if he thinks the bulk of the 'murican public are mouth breathing morans. he sold his soul for an Oprah show and i hope he thinks its worth it. I think i'm better off being a poor unknown who for the most part can speak his mind openly and honestly.
